Conservation Strategy

PRESERVE BVNP stands for “Participatory Reforestation, Eco-livelihood Support, Education and Research to Vitalize the Ecosystems of Bulusan Volcano Natural Park”.

  • Participatory community-based organizing, linkaging and mainstreaming along with the local and global environmental strategic thrusts; weak community organizations can be reinvigorated to build alliances and linkages towards proper coordination in order to harness cost-effective and collective actions thereby, resulting to empowerment to address biodiversity concerns;
  • Restoration, protection and maintenance of identified and targeted conservation sites, the BVNP – Bulusan Area and the Bulusan Lake and adjacent in-land bodies of water which begins from the establishment of endemic tree nursery, protection and maintenance thereon, of the conservation site;
  • Eco-friendly ventures or livelihood promotion, such as the appreciation of the beauty of nature through ecotourism and sustainable agriculture, in order to provide stable source of income even in the absence of external funding support;
  • Support for additional provision of poverty alleviation mechanism, capacity building programs and resource mobilization to the primary stakeholders and beneficiaries;
  • Education and Information and Campaign (EIC/IEC) to instill awareness on the proper management of natural resources, particularly in biodiversity conservation wherein the ecotourism industry would benefits. IEC tread on value formation as a means personal enrichment and social conditioning to the community towards; and
  • Research and data-banking of relevant ecological and socio-economic data such as, inventory of flora and fauna species/biodiversity monitoring system, threat reduction assessment, to name a few, that will be utilized in various aspect of conservation initiatives of the community; in order to
